REVIEW: Timothy and the Apocalypse presents “Ethereal Event”

Timothy and The Apocalypse returns with his sophomore release Ethereal Event.

Continuing to develop the connective threads of electronic music across contexts, Ethereal Event signifies an increasing ability to act as a gateway for discovery. Where the combination of vintage guitars and Teenage Engineering Pocket Collection synths saw debut album Future So Bright update the likes of Air’s Moon Safari and St. Germain’s Tourist with a dystopian digital edge, on Ethereal Event Timothy’s chosen tools and wealth of electronic music knowledge builds on the euphoric yet elegant aspects of ambient music and weaves the hallmarks of indie influences into his warm embrace of beat music.

Timothy creates music that works in all settings and transcends genres. His openness de él to a wide range of sounds is what has made him a beloved favorite, but also someone who operates in his own parallel musical world. Timothy unmatched style continues to expand with each release.

Update leaves nothing behind and confirms the mission that electronic music has always had: to play with the present and advance into the unknown, beyond entertainment. The result is a work as experimental as it is intense and addictive, which takes over oneself like sweet poison, while progressively transporting us, as few producers with a certain fluidity are willing to do. We do not know what the future holds, but we do know that this record is testimony to a turbulent and uncertain present, which will remain in our memory forever. For records like this, we can continue to fight for a better future.
