What was the first thing that attracted you to the world of electronic music?
I was first attracted to electronic music by the fact that one can create new sounds. Also coming from metal and punk bands the fact that I could express my musical ideas alone without needing a drummer was very appealing.
Do you remember any album or concert that has changed everything?
The person that actually changed everything for me was my cousin Sergio, when he introduced me to industrial music. I was into heavy metal, and suddenly got exposed to dozens of his old tapes with these amazing new sounds (to me). Album wise I would say two of the most important ones that changed things for me were Kollaps by Einstürzende Neubauten for it’s industrial sounds and Front Line Assembly Vs. Die Krupps – The Remix Wars: Strike 2 - as It mixed metal with industrial and rave. I was hooked after that in synths. Concert wise I will never forget the first time I saw Young gods live, with god knows how many Akai samplers mixed with drums and vocals.
Since you got into this professionally, what helped you the most to grow as an artist?
I think I would have to say working with others in the studio as well as being a resident DJ for 10 years at my former club Plano B in Porto.
How is the music scene in your city?
Well, Porto is a small city, but the scene is quite good nowadays. There are 3 main electronic music clubs and various venues with alternative and underground music. Some festivals and pop up events have been happening in recent years so It’s feeling quite fresh and booming.
I also feel the crowd is more informed than even in electronic music, and there is a new generation of music producers and djs coming that are very cool.
What are your favorite places to hang out in the city?
On a small park near my house downtown Porto with an amazing river view, and in front of the ocean in Matosinhos.
Have you had time to focus on making music, spending time with your family, or planning future projects during this past year(s) of lockdowns?
All of it actually, that's all I did. Well that and creating my debut album Infinity.
What do you want to convey in this work? What is the concept behind it?
The concept for Infinity is the continuum of life, of a constant loop that evolves over time. It is a discovery of myself musically, a rediscovery of the past to find the future. I wanted to create a record that is introspective and uplifting, organic and digital, without the pressure from pleasing the dance-floor, but with it in mind and heart at all times. Closed in the studio, In the middle of a pandemic I felt like creating something positive.I found myself experimenting freely with all kinds of sounds and musical ideas. This introspection and rediscovery, together with new experiences from being a first time dad, expressed themselves in Infinity, which I feel represents me quite well at the moment.
As for your studio, what is your setup currently made of?
Do you really wanna ask that question?
Too much stuff to mention but as far as synths go here are some:

What's the one bit of kit you'll never get rid of, no matter what?
Roland Sh-101
What would you say is the definition of your sound?
My sound is constantly evolving through jamming with synths until something pleasing (to me) comes out.
What was the last record store you visited and what did you get out there?
I was a week ago on Circus Records (http://www.instagram.com/circusrecordshop). I actually did not buy anything as I was just passing by and said a quick hello (sorry André..)
