Sagia brings you the incredible Destinations EP, released on Natura Viva, 9th May, the London based producer and DJ back once again with her trademark style of spacious, energetic soundscapes, solid basslines and warm, rich vibes. Since her 2012 debut That's Right, Sagia has been in high demand, bringing her feel good groove around the world, from Amsterdam to New York, Ibiza to Miami. Destinations is inspired by her travels.
Imagine you’re driving down the Pacific Coast Highway in California, rag-top down as the sun sets to the west. The air is still warm, the entire Pacific skyline putting on a show, just for you and your friends. Now press play on titular track Destinations.
Close your eyes. Cool synths, like the sounds of the Pacific crashing against sandy beaches wash behind a two-note refrain like the cats’ eyes in the road ahead, as the steady drum loop clocks your RPM. Sagia brings the experience to life, building in intensity. Just like the coastal drive itself, Destinations just makes you feel good. As the sun sets, the bass rises. Marimba synths herald the dusk. These are the warm, rich vibes we spoke about.
Sagia tells more: “Destinations’ came from being on the road so much these last few years. I’ve a weak spot for the nomadic feel of a US road trip. I’m really fascinated by the beauty of the Pacific Coast Highway.”
Moving further down Highway 1, Sagia takes us to the famous Sunken City, south of LA, In Coastal San Pedro, where a 1929 landslide took down several wood-framed homes, the concrete street and Red Car rail tracks with it. There’s a magical vibe.
A steady 4/4 is joined by a dreamy, nocturnal hi-synthline. Sagia brings the party with a beautiful delay piano line with a stripped back bassline for company. How she manages to create such an encompassing soundscape is a magical talent, even from two speakers, her sounds surround you. Sagia explains: “I was very inspired with life on the road and all that comes with it. ‘Sunken City is a magical spot at the southern coast of L.A. (also featured in ‘The Big Lebowski’)”
Impressed? Well, you’re in good company. With supporters such as Anja Schneider, 2000 And One, Monika Kruse, Kölsch and Nick Warren as well as Sandy Rivera, Eelke Kleijn, Eli & Fur, Darin Epsilon, Bebetta, Magit Cacoon and Eats Everything, it’s going to be a hot summer with Sagia.
