REVIEW: RICKY LEO - MOONRISE EP

Morbidyne presents his latest work: a three-track EP by Ricky Leo called "Moonrise". The third release in our catalog (MBDYN003) is indeed an impressive production by the Milanese DJ and producer (based in Ibiza). He has debuted on labels such as Get Physical, Whoyostro, and Play.

The album, with a truly rhythmically solid Tech-House sound, organically evolves as the EP progresses. "Moonrise" is an overwhelming narrative. Through solid arrangements and solid programming, this record becomes a vehicle for reverential music that manages to spill out enough of the artist's own ideas to shake off old age, allowing it to exist in its own right as credible.

To end the EP with style Mia Wallace chooses a torn struck by her interpretation of Leo's version. Deep, heavy chords, a perpetual acidic bassline, painstaking investigation of percussion sounds, and the sinister ending melody generate an astonishing combination of musical layers and emotions, which is exactly what it takes to make a track intriguing. .

Through solid arrangements and solid programming, this record becomes a vehicle for reverential music that manages to spill out enough of the artist's own ideas to shake off old age, allowing it to exist in its own right as credible. Ricky Leo manages to distill it admirably into an album that turns out to be an attentive listener from start to finish. In addition to its percussion made from household items, this electro progressive track finishes as strong as this record demands.

Altogether, this album is as experimental as it is intense and addictive, it takes over oneself like sweet poison, while progressively transporting us, as few producers with a certain fluidity are willing to do. We do not know what the future holds, but we do know that this record is testimony to a turbulent and uncertain present, which will remain in our memory forever. For records like this, we can continue to fight for a better future.
