REVIEW: ARVØW EP “Remnants” (Incl. Cotton Mouth, Evigt Mörker Remixes) released on Be Your Own Studio Label

ARVØW’s Remnants is a bold artistic evolution that signals a striking shift in tone, texture, and emotional intent. After capturing audiences with tracks like Subliminal and Last Contact, and establishing a reputation across club stages in the UK and Spain, the young producer now turns inward—and northward. This six-track collection, set for release via Be Your Own Studio on April 11, was forged in the icy solitude of northern Scandinavia. It’s a record that feels like a conversation between body and landscape, emotion and isolation.

What’s immediately clear is that Remnants is about dualities: warmth emerging from cold, rhythm from silence, structure from chaos. "At First Sight" and "Aurora" are atmospheric standouts. The former introduces shimmering pads and meditative pacing, while Aurora dazzles with spectral synths that mimic the motion of northern lights. The sound design here is spacious, intentional, and deeply cinematic.

But the EP’s real punch comes midway. "Days Pass" is a gritty, layered piece of breakbeat electronica that feels emotionally taut—like a heartbeat under pressure. "18 Hours" leans heavier into percussive dissonance, mirroring the psychological weight of endless arctic nights. ARVØW’s production here is meticulous. Each hi-hat, sub-bass hit, and ambient swell feels placed with purpose.

The inclusion of remixes by Cotton Mouth and Swedish experimentalist Evigt Mörker is a smart move. Cotton Mouth retains some of the EP’s emotional clarity but distorts it through abstracted minimalism. Evigt Mörker, on the other hand, plunges headfirst into avant-garde territory, deconstructing rhythm entirely and leaving behind a dense fog of sonic fragments.

Visually, Remnants is as immersive as its sound. The cover art by Estudio Cadelca mirrors the record’s tone perfectly—icy, stark, yet strangely comforting. It encapsulates the beauty ARVØW found in solitude and the cold. With growing radio support and recognition from major electronic tastemakers, Remnants is both a brave departure and a statement of intent: ARVØW is an artist willing to evolve, explore, and expose his inner world, no matter how unforgiving the terrain.
