Loods Drops Timeless, Beaming House Track “Freedom”

Buy / Stream Loods - Freedom (feat. KLP)

OCTOBER 20, 2023—Today, London-via-Australia DJ/producer Loods debuts on Diplo’s house/techno label Higher Ground with “Freedom,” featuring coveted Australian vocalist/songwriter KLP. The new single is the latest soaring number from Loods, who taps into the raw, rapturous sound of pure house music that has pulsed through the walls of all-night-long parties since its origination in 1980s Chicago.

Reflecting the themes of what house music is all about, “Freedom” embodies the cathartic, liberating feeling of getting lost in the music. The lyrics, so joyously brought to life by KLP, really say it all. “This is a wink in the rearview mirror to the wonderfully warm era of house music that I grew up with,” Loods remarks on the track. “I hope you can hear the anemoia we tried to bottle up in this. Positive affirmation dance music never dies!”

The radiant piano chords, crystal-clear percussion, and ecstatic climaxes solidify “Freedom” as one of Loods’ most powerful releases to date. This display of dancefloor mastery is just one of the reasons he’s been a staple of Aussie rave hero Mall Grab’s beloved label Steel City Dance Discs since 2018. Since relocating to London from the Australian town of Newcastle, Loods has delivered a string of high-impact releases that have earned him nods as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record (“Walking Away”) and Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune (“Pure Bliss Meltdown”).

Loods is regularly touring throughout the UK, Europe, and Australia while delivering mixes for high-profile platforms such as Rinse FM, NTS, triple j, and The Lot Radio. On November 11, he’ll be joining some of the most legendary names in house music to play at London’s famous Warehouse Project. Loods is set to perform alongside Alan Fitzpatrick, Green Velvet, Patrick Topping, and more.

Having written with the likes of Skrillex, Tommy Trash, and Stace Cadet, KLP (Kristy Lee Peters) is one of Australia’s biggest exports for dance music. Breaking through as host of triple j’s House Party show, KLP was earmarked as a tastemaker in the Australian music industry early on. Since then, KLP has picked up two ARIA Award nominations for her “Energy” and “People Happy,” placed #21 in triple j’s coveted Hottest 100 countdown, and earned a platinum record (“Energy”). In 2019, she released her debut album, Giver, on Cereus Records.
