After “Refined”, their first release on Thisbe Recordings in April 2021, Radial Gaze is back on the label with “Tetra Seeds”, their new EP.
The two brothers from St. Petersburg, Andrey, electronic musician and producer, mixing and mastering engineer, together with Stas, sound designer, guitarist and theater director, stay true to their identity: on "Tetra Seeds", they offer an irresistible mix of slow techno, ethnic-infused electro and percussive wonders.
The digital EP includes 4 original tracks and 4 remixes by Dominik Marz, Balam, Semodi and label owner Pyrame.
Pressed on yellow vinyl and featuring 3 of the originals as well as 3 of the remixes, the 6-track 12" is a limited edition with amazing art by Maksim Cherny.
We have had the pleasure of interviewing Radial Gaze.
What was the first thing that attracted you to the world of electronic music?
I think it was the bands Yello and Daft Punk, I always liked to explore something new and quite by chance their cassettes got into my hands.
Do you remember any album or concert that made you see everything in a different way?
I have always been impressed by big festivals with their scale, atmosphere and music. After them, you often start to look at things differently. It's always a new experience.
Since you got into this professionally, what did you miss at a national, international level? And what helped you grow the most, including believing in yourself?
It seems to me that besides a good sound, its own style and cool releases, another very important part in this business is networking and a little luck. Of course, the combination of these factors helps to grow. Self-belief is naturally reinforced by support and feedback from listeners, music lovers and other artists.
How did you decide to embark on your last job?
If we talk about music production, then at some point I just realized that I wanted to do these things and I have all the opportunities for this. so "why not? either now or never," I thought and left my previous job and concentrated only on this activity.
How are you living the music scene in your city with this cloudy pandemic situation?
Now I am not tied to any particular place. In all the cities I visit, the situation has generally returned to normal. In some places there are small restrictions, but they do not interfere much.
What are your favorite places to hang out in the city?
If we talk about my hometown of St. Petersburg, then these are such spaces as Sevkabel Port, New Holland Island, as well as classic places in the city center where you can take a walk, go to a good bar or restaurant, etc.
Have you had time to focus on making music, spending time with your family, or planning future projects?
Yes, all the time after my change of activity, I directed music creation, production, sound engineering and related areas. To one degree or another, I managed to combine everyday life, although, to be honest, I had to sacrifice some other things for this.
Do you have any final words of wisdom?
Do what you like.
