“I am incredibly passionate about preserving Birmingham’s rich musical heritage and our work culminates with Forum Birmingham. It was my old stomping ground and helped shape my musical journey, so to celebrate its 60th anniversary with this series of events is extra special.”
Billy Chauhan of Global Venues
Forum Birmingham has been at the heart of the city’s music scene for six decades. The multi-faceted 3,500-capacity venue became the Forum in 2021 and underwent extensive refurbishments, so as well as the main hall, it includes Space 54, an intimate, self-contained club with its own entrance and a powerful d&b audio sound system.
The building was previously known as The Ballroom, Top Rank Suite, Hummingbird and Carling and O2 Academy and has welcomed stars from across the musical spectrum, from The Clash to The Beastie Boys, Bob Marley & The Wailers to Nirvana, Amy Winehouse and Ed Sheeran.
“We are witnessing the systematic dismantling of the UK’s night-time economy, so the success of Forum Birmingham should be celebrated as it approaches its 60-year milestone. Our industry is not just about entertainment; it’s about identity, community and economy, so we must support the intrepid operators who keep these amazing venues open for future generations.”
Michael Kill – Vice President, International Nightlife Association (INA)
This new season of events will draw on the rich culture of the city of Birmingham, while showcasing trendy new musical talent from a variety of scenes, and at the same time looking to the future with some never-before-seen event concepts and exciting new technology. Chief among these new additions will be the new Soundscape sound system from d&b audiotechnik at selected events. d&b Soundscape is the most sophisticated sound system in the world. It’s been built on over 40 years of pioneering experience and is all about pinpoint precision, immersive sound and boundary-pushing invention, so it has to be heard to be believed.
The first phase of announcements includes Fac 51 – The Hacienda, the seminal acid house party that spearheaded the late 80s and 90s underground scene from its famous Manchester home. Also visiting will be Sonny Fodera, the Australian house maestro who has over 6.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify and countless chart-topping hits to his name, including ‘Somedays’ and ‘One Night’.
Meanwhile, HE.SHE.THEY has quickly become one of the most unique and vibrant gatherings in the underground. It focuses on old-school values of inclusion, diversity and welcoming all genders, all sexualities and all races, but with a fresh, edgy soundtrack, and has hosted festivals everywhere from Glastonbury to Coachella. There will also be plenty of pounding grooves from the DNB Allstars, the bass-heavy beats of the Weird Science crew, the bassline madness of the celebrated Cru2 and festival-sized lineups from the influential Live Nation.
2025 at Forum Birmingham will be an unmissable celebration of all the things that have helped make the venue so historic and celebrated over the past 60 years. Sign up now to be the first to hear about tickets and full lineups. forumbirmingham.uk/signup
