Budakid presents ‘Dreams Stretched Beyond’ LP

Budakid announces Dreams Stretched Beyond, his debut album arriving 3^rd July, alongside ‘Endless’, the first single from the upcoming LP on his own label, Flores. The Dutch, Berlin based Producer, DJ, singer, and multi-instrumentalist continues to build his music from the ground up, and with Flores, he has created a home to fully realise that vision. 

Born into a musical family with Indonesian heritage, Budakid was a drummer long before he discovered drum machines. Rhythm came first and remains the core of his productions, while he later studied music theory for four years at the conservatorium. Later in his career he found the confidence to bring his voice more prominently into his work, and he as always produced and recorded all of his music himself. 

Budakid is already a respected and established name within the global electronic music scene. With over a thousand shows played across all continents, his music stretches beyond the usual club format with a sound that has found support from a wide range of talent, including Adriatique, Hernan Cattaneo, Bonobo and Dixon. Parts of his catalogue released on labels connected to Sasha, Max Cooper, Solomun and Guy J, yet, it took nearly twenty years before he felt ready to present a debut LP, reflecting the long and often unpredictable path of building a life in music. 

The foundations for this new chapter, the album, were formed during a period when Budakid stepped away from everyday noise and spent several years living in the Alps. The isolation allowed him to tune out and go deeply into the creative process. Surrounded by mountains and quiet landscapes, he focussed on writing new music that would eventually become "Dreams Stretched Beyond". 

Launching his own label became another important step in that process. While he has released music on so many respected labels, the new album marks the first moment where his sound appears completely without compromise. Flores offers Budakid the freedom to express his personal identity fully and the confidence to finally release this milestone debut album after nearly twenty years in the music industry. 

The first single "Endless" reflects the uncertainty that comes with choosing a life in music. Budakid sees this as a sense of moving forward without guarantees, falling endlessly into whatever direction the future may hold. When someone shares that fall beside you, it becomes easier to keep moving. 

"Endless is a reflection of what it is like being an artist. Almost blindfolded, we fall endlessly into wherever destiny may take us. Are we good enough? What does the future bring for us? There is an endless vagueness and insecurity that comes with this artist lifestyle. No certainty, only our own energy and motivation to move endlessly forward. It is like the act of breathing. The first lyrics express that train of thought. The second part is more about wishing for hope and security."

"Endless" is an emotive dance track that immediately draws attention. Budakid plays beautiful, warm valve keyboards striking single chords, with subtle shifts between major and minor to add emotion to the groove. If you listen carefully, you can hear layers of echoing synths and samples gradually build around them in a spacious, cinematic production. Budakid’s soulful vocal enters softly with the lyrics: "Thoughtful, stepping / Through the dust / See me falling, endless. 

Thoughtful, stepping / Wish me luck / You should hold me endless." "Dreams Stretched Beyond" will be released 3^rd July on 2LP vinyl and digital via Flores, with vinyl distribution handled by Atomnation and !K7. The single "Endless" is out 16^th April.
