REVIEW: Max Page presents Shellin It EP

There are artists who, in order to go beyond their sound, have to get rid of their original name and create another, but then there are others who, in order to go further, have to rediscover themselves again, to create a sound whose starting point is not born both from the attempt to cross borders and to recover them. This is the case of producer Max Page, who recently released "Shellin It EP" on the Chapeau Music label.

Page's latest work is deep and sweeping. Shellin It EP is a serious work, painstakingly cared for, that lends itself to starting it and not returning to reality until it's finished: the headphones are like the oxygen cylinder that allow you to design to the bottom of this great sound rotation, of this cosmic orbit, and being there in a state of hypnotic fascination.

The Oots remix gives it a new dimension, giving a result that is as experimental as it is intense and addictive, which takes possession of oneself, while progressively transporting us, as few producers with a certain ease are willing to do.

In this world where speed is desperately sought and attention deficit is so high, such an album will be misunderstood among many people, even dismissed as really important. But you just have to have the patience and the will to stop, to breathe, to sink into it, to hold on there as long as you can, and admire its interior.
